Planning to start adult domain? wait few more days, because you may get a chance to own your desired sex domain name. ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers) is getting more and more proposal to provide new domain extensions .xxx for adult entertainment industry. Some adult entertainment industry people who want to start adult or porn site have requested ICANN regarding opening/providing .XXX domain name extensions for adult website.

History of .XXX domain extension:

In May of 2004, ICM submitted a proposal to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to delegate .XXX as a sponsored top-level domain (sTLD) for responsible members of the online adult entertainment industry and those that supply products and/or services to it (the Online Adult Community or the Community). On 10 May 2006, the ICANN Board of Directors rejected a draft contract governing ICM’s operation of the .XXX sTLD (.XXX). But recently in one meeting at Brussels, they are approved to .XXX domain extensions for adult sites.

They are forcing to provide the .xxx because it helps in protecting children from visiting adult website. It also helps parents to filter adult content on internet by using internet filter software.

I would not prefer .XXX :P Moreover, I doubt if it really will help in protecting children because I am sure they can find some way to bypass it.

Of course, but it brands adult industry and some adult filtering software can now easily filter adult sites. And more over, if all adult sites move to .xxx extension then child visiting accidentally to pron site may avoid.
