Today officially Karnataka PGCET 2010 date announced by vtu. Some information about Karnataka PGCET are as follows.

MBA / MCA ADMISSION NOTIFICATION:

Admission to MBA and MCA Courses in Karnataka for the year 2010-11

Academic Eligibility:


MBA (FT/ PT): Admission to MBA course shall be open for the candidates who have passed the Bachelor degree with not less than fifty percent i.e. integer 50% (rounding-off of aggregate percent is not permitted) of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC / ST and Category I, the aggregate percent of marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall not be less than forty five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding -off of aggregate percent is not permitted).

The candidates applying for part-time course in MBA must have worked for not less than three years (after the qualifying examination and experience is considered up to date of Notification) in an establishment and must be working in an organization within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.

MCA (FT) : Admission to MCA course shall be open for the candidates who have passed Bachelor degree with not less than fifty percent i.e. integer 50% (rounding-off of aggregate percent is not permitted) of marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Programming or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional or elective at Degree Level. Provided further that a candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the first proviso in the Pre-University Course with 50 % of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission. However in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC / ST and Cat-I, forty five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding -off of aggregate percent is not permitted) of marks in that subject shall be considered for Admission.

Admission procedure:

1) The written test will be conducted for MBA course between 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM and for MCA course between 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM on 11-7-2010 (Sunday) at various centers as specified in Brochure supplied with the application form.

2) For both Karnataka & Non-Karnataka Students admission will be based solely on performance in written test (PGCET), then followed by counseling for seat selection as per merit.

 

How to Apply for PGCET :

The application can be obtained on payment of Rs. 600/- ( Rs 300/- in case of Karnataka SC/ ST and Cat-I, on production of documentary proof) in the form of DD only, drawn in favour of the Member Secretary, CPAC payable at Belgaum.

      I think you can write pgcet exam because, you have got more than 50% in bachelor degree exam. Puc marks consider only when you failed to get 50% marks in degree exams, I think so.

      No yatheesh, you’re not able to apply pgcet online. To apply pgcet you must send DD to one of the pgcet center or by person to pgcet center. Seems you’re too late, If you want to enter pgcet you must apply fast because only 2 days left! (don’t post DD go by person, otherwise you’re not able to apply).

      Hello yatin patel, this information is only valid for Karnataka state and not for gujarat. If you want to appear in karnataka pgcet then you’re late, you need to wait for next year pgcet.

      I don’t know dude, PGCET rank will depend on both degree exam and PGCET score. According to my guss and pgcet score you may get good ranking.

      Pgcet rank is declared by taking the score of the entrance test only,and thr is no branch wise declaration of ranks,based on score rank will be declared.if 2 of them score same marks,then they take degree aggregate..

        top scorer get the good score,env,civil,auto,ip,mech they score good marks,so they get good ranks.cs,ele,elect may not so rank will be very so thrs is no need of worry of rank…i think according to last year rank declaration 40plus marks get below 4000 rank..55plus below 1000.

          In MCA they have considered only PGCET marks as they told in brochure, please refer Mtech brochure for this details. If they say only PGCET then they don’t take BE marks.

          Here is how the ranking is given
          1) PGCET MARKS
          2) when PGCET marks are same, then come the degree %, however has the highest % will be placed above.
          (Obviously this will into picture, since there is only 100 Marks and many people will have scored the same marks)
          3)When 1 and 2 are same then the candidate ranking will be done based on the age( Older will get a better rank).

    i got 5 th ranking in pgcet mca. will i get any further more benefits from the college. and we are paying 50000 to the vtu for first year, do we need to pay same 50000 to the college from second year or not.And which colleges can i get in minimal fee?will they consider my ranking or not?but i am non karnataka student.will that matter or not?

      Sorry Anil, your comment caught on Akismet plugin and marked it has spam comment, so it take time to appear here and due this, one of your comment mistakenly deleted.

      No one will consider your PGCET ranking regarding to fee structure, I think we need to pay 50K(50,000) every year (not sure), and note that there is also extra college fee is their in addition to 50K. Most of all Master degree college is have 50K+ fee structure. They consider your ranking for only to provide good college (means more college fee) and they don’t consider your Ranking for fee structure.

      I think “non karnataka student” doesn’t matter in fee structure.

    my friend doesnt want to do MBA but he has got a chance to get seat in counselling his rank is around 2500……. can he take the seat or reserve the college seat which he has selected to me is it possible……….????

      One has to select a seat in the first round.

      If he does not wish to join, he can come back during the casual round and surrender the seat. However VTU will cut certain % as processing fee ( May be 10%) and refund the rest in about 4-6 weeks.

    my rank is 1911.today was my counselling. i opted RV institute of Mngt . but after that went to check out the campus. its horrible. n no college bus facility too. im depressed dat althoug i could get other good colleges i went by the name RV. now.. want to know the chances of me getting seat in a descent college in casual round? also want to know the process of dd cancellation in case i don want to go to casual round coz i just cant go to this casual(RV inst of mngt) now.plz advice

      hi vara,
      you can cancel the seat by submitting the documents before or during the process of casual round to be eligible to get a refund of the fee.
      i. original provisional admission order
      ii. original fee receipt
      iii. application for cancellation of seat n refund of fee paid with clear and complete correspondence address

      you will get ur fee back after deducting 1000 as processing charges.
      be careful you mustnt do after casual round as no refund will be made after that.

      post the above documents by post to the member secretary,pgcet cell at least one day b4 casual round.

      dude you certainly belong to those personalities who judge the book by its cover. rv college is one of the best college in bangalore for studying mba under Bu . if you want big campus and want to act like a stud in the campus insted of really studying management then i am not really not surprised why u were depressed by seeing rv campus.As far as i know there are students who have selected rv, who have scored 600 rank 625th rank. and i am dam sure you got rv through category seat and not gm.dude you are behaving as if you have scored 11th or 19th rank. believe me you are lucky that you got into the rv even after scoring 1911.finally if want only studies then join rv if you want to act as a punk then rv is certainly not for you because as for as i know it is very strict.

      choose wisely best of luck. plz dont think i am giving advertisement to rv because if you dont choose rv some will

      remember you shape your carrier not rv,pesit, or Alliance.

    i am in great confusion whether to choose college under vtu or bangalore university (jana bharati) for mca.i heard that BU syallabus is old and the college is not so good, is this true? My friend asked his professor who works in university itself, she suggested to do correspondence but not to join university. this created a huge confusion inside me.And my verification is on tomorrow and counseling on Sept 1st,

    Today was my counseling, inspite of my rank, as i was non karnataka i couldnt get good colleges, only eight colleges(inside bangalore)were there and i had never heard about those colleges.so i left and told to come for casual round.

    now i came to know one or two colleges were good out of them, casual round is on sept 8, is there any chance of getting seat.

    why they have done such huge demarcation for karnataka and non karnataka although i have done degree from karnataka itself..

    please suggest me how my career should go now, what should i do if i dont get in any of those two colleges.

    Is there any way left apart from correspondence as i can’t afford for management quota,and i want to go through pgcet itself?

    rules of vtu for non karnataka students left me no where.my hard work for more than two months,my 5th rank couldnt do anything to my career, i couldnt get any college, now i have joined the college, which is not that standard however the fee is more than that of rv college.

    what is the use of pgcet if 3000 ranked student gets seat in good college and me not getting any seat inspite of my top 5 th rank. this has left a huge frustation on me.

    There is absolutely necessity for rules to be changed.These are rediculous.opportunities should be given irrespective of caste ,creed, culture, language as all of us are human, and hard work should be given priority not other things.

    pgcet has really really made me depressed.

    HI..I have taken MBA seat in alliance business academy,bangalore university through pgcet…But now i regret for opting this college becoz when i had gone for admission i was shocked to know from admission co-ordinator of alliance that there is no placements from this year n they r not helping to get internship…i wonder how can a reputed institution like this can stop placements…n i have heard there is politics going on in this coll from couple of months..watever internal conflict they have ,that should not ruin students career…Thinking that alliance is the best college n worth doing mba there,many students like me have opted,n most them are shocked to know that there is no placements…can anyone please tell me is this really true n how far they are going to implement watever they have said..please do reply

      i think u are right ? my brother studied in alliance. he passed out last year ? there is internal conflict between husband and wife that who should run the organization. although alliance got permission for deemed university it was later canceled due to internal politics

      hey 69 is a very good score.my senior had got 40 in 2010 eee pgcet and he secured arank of around 1000.he said 2010 paper was more tougher compared to 2011.

      which answer you have marked for largest header to html question ?

      key answer they have given is h6 but right answer is h1

      key ansewer they have given for example of recursive decent parsing question is bottom up parsing but right answer is top down parsing

      packet switching has less delay its true

      about 3 questions in 2 marks and bout 2 questions in one mark.. ???

        ya Varsha h1 is correct answer i hav mailed d objection…. n d proposition p^(~pvq) has 2 answers…if solved by distributive law its answer is p^q bt if solved by rules of inference it becums p^(p->q) so its answer ll b q….

    @HG:kea guys are exeptionally good with CET,Everything goes according to the brochure and changes will be notified in the newspaper.
    Since this is the first time KEA is conducting PGCET,some delays are expected.:)

      Completely agree.

      I am really not complaining about the delay. due to heavy turnout for PGCET, KEA might be working hard to handle all stuff i agree. But what puzzles me, is ‘NO communication’ regarding the delay of the results. It hardly takes a minute to put a note in KEA website saying ‘results would be delayed’.

        Yes I get it.But once ranks are published there is no room for confusion,coz seat matrix will be very error free.Even the counselling process will be smooth.
        Till last year all PG aspirants had to go to belgaum for councelling:(

      Management asks only for you to attend PGCET and ger some rank.You only need to be ready to pay the donation amount which they ask together with the yearly fees.

            hope for the best bro.In top colleges,in a particular course there are only 10 seats available.After the gate candidates select seats in GM quota,around 4 to 5 reamain.the vacant in GM seats are then given to pgcet candidates.remaining are all reserved for category students:)

            my rank is 2734. i am also from eee branch.just wanted to confirm since you are from eee background, can we take vlsi, biomedical, information technology and cs although we are not from ec or cs background. according to brochure, we(eee) can take these branches.we have very less options for eee stream. even if there are options like power system, power electronics for eee stream, the number of seats are very less and most of them out of b’lore. plz clarify and help.

            since you are from ee,in case you dont get in PS,PE,MECS,then you can opt for VLSI,Dig electronics or electronics.
            In case you dont get any of these only then you should go to CS .
            Actually all software engineers except top tech companies do the same thing irrespective of degree!!

      nothing like that, they have clearly teold everywhere assigning of a rank doesnt mean that ur are eligible to select a seat. u have to have the eligible score. that is 50% in your graduation and ya thing is they may give some relaxation just because every year there will be many unfilled seats in many colleges. just for this reason they may allow if u have less than 50%. hope this would suffice.

            Which branch do u want,it also depends on which branch is in boom.
            Scare away all fears.Just few more days,everything will be decided.No room for worries.

            @dhanraj: Dabba colleges will not offer Mtech for mechanical branch(specialization),at the max they can offer mtech in CS branch. Many new dabba colleges have got permission for mtech in CS from this year.
            So we can make out which college is dabba or not dabba.

      @Sanjana: If you are a GATE candidate,then take your GATE score card for proof.
      If you are a non GATE candidate dont take any rank proof,they will have all records.

          yes, all seats remaining under all reserved cat would be converted to GM seats and offered to all candidates again in Casual Vacancy round … thats what the brochure says
